New Delhi, August 16 (FrontPostPlus) – A deleted report from Pakistani media has reignited speculation about the scale of losses suffered by Pakistan during India’s Operation Sindoor in May 2025. According to the briefly published piece on Samaa TV, more than 150 Pakistani soldiers may have been killed in Indian strikes—far higher than what Islamabad has publicly admitted.

The report, later scrubbed from the website, detailed gallantry awards announced by Pakistan’s president for soldiers who fought in “Operation Bunyanun Marsoos,” Islamabad’s codename for its response to Indian operations. However, the honors list appeared to give away the true scale of casualties: at least 155 names carried the suffix “shaheed,” a term denoting those killed in action.

Further breakdowns revealed that 146 soldiers who received the Imtiaz-i-Sanad—a distinction certificate—were posthumously marked as “shaheed.” An additional 45 soldiers were awarded the Tamgha-e-Basalat for acts of devotion to duty, with at least four of those awards conferred posthumously.

If accurate, this points to a grim reality: Pakistan’s battlefield losses during Op Sindoor could be among the heaviest in recent years, yet the government has chosen silence over disclosure. Analysts believe the quick deletion of the report signals Islamabad’s intent to downplay the damage, fearing public backlash and international scrutiny.

The revelations have once again raised questions about transparency within Pakistan’s military establishment—and whether the nation can continue to conceal its battlefield realities in the face of mounting evidence.
